Today I went out to see if I could figure out something to buy with my $25 gift card. I couldn't decide yesterday, but today I went to Michael's and Barne's & Noble to look around. After searching through Michael's fora a half an hour I decided that I wasn't going to buy anything. I am going to ask for a few things for Christmas though! What I ended up getting was a French grammar and a step by step French work book (both of them are workbooks). I think these two books will compliment my French study and help me improve. I still have a lot of work to do for sure. I had a lot of fun looking around at everything today. I love going out, and it was extra nice because I am done with all my school homework and all I have to do is go to my English class tomorrow to talk about class and turn in our final papers. I've already finished that paper, so I am carefree today.
Speaking of school I got my grade for my French final! Here is a picture of all my French exam grades.
I am so glad I did so well. Just to clarify though, that lost 10% was because I did poorly at the actual conversation part. I am not very good at speaking yet. I am actually taking the conversation class next semester to fix that. I know without a doubt I can improve.
So that was today. I also went out to aet at Subway before I went shopping. I was so hungry when I got to the mall.
When I got home later I just relaxed and took a nap. I was going to go to Natalie's concert, but I'm still burned out from my French Final yesterday. It was hard, but my effort wasn't in vain!
Today was my last day of studying before my French exam tomorrow. I am very nervous and hope I will do alright. I have been studying all day and plan on waking up early tomorrow to do more studying before my exam. I think I'll do pretty good, but I won't know for sure until I see the exam.
Anyway, I went to Church today and accidentally fell asleep in the second hour again! Ugh! I am going to crack down on that, I just need to go to sleep earlier. The fix is pretty simple and I know I can do that. I am not surprised I was so tired today though. Studying this hard is well... hard! I only meant to rest my eyes a bit, but I guess that isn't wise when you are worn out at church.
Anyway, not going to write much today. Here is a cool ambient noise video I've used for studying in the past.
I am going to miss my French class. Madame Christensen was very amazing. I probably could have worked even harder in her class, but things have worked out pretty well for me. Today in our last official day of class before the final on Monday, we did some french caroling. We did it with Dr. Temple, the profess or who is going to be my next French teacher, and I think maybe some of his students too, but I'm not entirely sure.
Songs we sang around the school were a French carol called "Il est ne le divine enfant", the french version of "The First Noel", and the French version of "Oh Come all Ye Faithful". Pardon me if I'm too lazy to look up the names in French. We weren't the best singers together, but I do think we could have been worse really. We got a little off tune sometimes, but that made if fun for me personally. While we were singing there as actually a snack cart that came by and they let us have snacks. I've seen that around school a couple of times this semester.
It was a really fun activity and we all had laughs and fun. Eventually we had to part ways however.
I should have kept the caroling sheet and took pictures, but sadly I did not.
After I parted ways with everyone I went home.
Tonight I went to another Mormon Tabernacle Christmas Concert. I didn't get any pictures this year. Dad and I went to Kneaders to eat dinner before. I was hungry and it was very cold outside. I am glad I wore my warm Canada sweatshirt. We had bread bowls, mine was loaded potato soup. I want to have another bread bowl soon. We headed off to the concert and stood in line after this. We had seats on the floor this time at the Conference Center. On our way there we got to give our extra three tickets to some family that desperately wanted them. There was this couple that we originally gave them too first, but they very kindly gave them up to the family behind them. It was super cool.
The guest singer was some Spanish opera singer, I forgot his name. He was an awesome singer. The concert was pretty cool. My favorite part was when "Il est ne le divin enfant" was sung by the choir and the opera singer. I've had it stuck in my head ever since. Another favorite part was when the dancers were dancing with big shining stars in the isles when the choir was singing "Angels From the Realm of Glory" at the end. That was beyond cool and gave me goosebumps.
It was a good day and a good evening tonight. We all had fun. Forgive me if this year's recollection is rushed a bit. I am very tired and have a lot of studying to do for my French final in 4 days. I'm so nervous!
Today was my last full day of school for this semester. i am so relieved things are nearly over. I am planning on getting my two last papers done either tomorrow or the next day. They are simple and won't take me very long. One of them is just about what I've learned in Stress Management, the other one is about how I've grown in English. Both of them are reflection papers. I can see the finish line and it is exciting!
We reviewed a bit for next weeks exam in French. In my other two classes we just talked about our last two papers (one each) and about what needs to be in them. It was a pretty laid back day.
I also had my last meal of the semester from the cafeteria.
Chef salad, potato wedges and peppermint chocolate cheesecake.
Other than this (sorry for no details, I am sooo tired) I went to work. I also found this super awesome and new ambient noise video from my favorite ambient noise channel!
The picture in the video, I wish I could really eat something like that. haha.
I had to finish my last French journal today because I forgot. I finished my last ten journal entries in the library today because of the reason above. I told Madame Christensen a white lie that i forgot my journal at home and just finished everything after class today. I took it to her office after I was done. It took me a while and I did get some help with google translate because I still have trouble putting stuff together sometimes, but it all came together in the end. You know what else I forgot though? i forgot to turn in my paper for my 3rd conversation with the tutor. I'm hoping I can do that on Monday. Anyway, I know using google translate isn't good, but I still need help and so I have been using ti to help me with my journal entries. I won't need it someday, but for now I'll use it. I know it isn't great for everything, so of course I'll try my best to not have to use it. It is great for sentence structure and spelling though.
Anyway, that is all I'm going to write about today. I am pretty busy with stuff.
Let's just be consise. I feel no need to do OCD posting n ow. If I miss posting I can just do this and not worry about back posting for every single day.
To start with I should mention I got this new hat I've been wanting for a long time. You see on the 15th I probably had my worst French test. For some reason Chapter 4 was pretty hard. We worked on stuff like how to give commands, how to use verbs like venir (to come) and prendre (to take). also other stuff like family, what we did the week before, transport vocabulary, and more about the verb aller (to go). It was a pretty challenging chapter! I also made the mistake of not going to the tutor for this chapter. That was pure dumbness. I thought I would get 30 out of 100 but I luckily ended up getting 58/100. it wasn't the end the the world. I got ice cream, but didn't feel like I deserved it.
Another hard thing I went through over the past two weeks was seriously getting into my English paper #5. We made our paper outlines, and cracked down on research. We also started doing peer reviews and helping each other with our structure. With the help of the book's outline combined with the outline I found online I was able to construct a pretty great outline for my exploratory research paper for English on Depression and Anxiety. I also got some pointers from Chase (our professor) about my paper. I also began putting my paper together. It went well
I shared this story on facebook. "Saw that hand foot and mouth disease is trending. It brought back
memories of me catching it from one of my nieces. I then proceeded to
accidentally cause an epidemic at school. Yeah, if any of you got that
in High School I'm sorry. Haha. I've never said anything until now.
Can't even tell you how embarrassed I was when the school sent around
the letter warning people about it. It's not horrible, you just break
out in red sore spots. They don't hurt a lot, but are uncomfortable.
Most contagious thing I've ever seen. It spreads like a wildfire. I was
glad when it passed."
I created a secret pseudonym. I wanted to be able to openly talk about Donald Trump in private, plus I thought having a secret fake name (initials V.I) would be fun. this originated on Twitter.
I watched big Cat Rescue save five Tigers from Colorado in the biggest big cat rescue in American history that we know of. Actually it wasn't just big cats but bears too I think. They were saved from a failed sanctuary.
We started chapter 5 in French (weather, past tense, clothing, etc.) I cracked down on Dulingo, and made a lot of progress. I was going to work on my vocab, but somehow ended up just reading for the whole of Thanksgiving vacation week. I finished the Anne of Green Gables series and "The Alchemist". I am currently not reading anything new and won't until school is done.
I was very tired, which is why that week I ended up taking a break and read a lot.
I ate too much at Thanksgiving. We had turkey with gravy, stuffing, yams with marshmallows, broccoli, cheese sauce, rolls, and sparkling juice. Later we had pie (pecan and pumpkin) and played games. I got burned out from listening to election talk at the dinner table. This is when I went downstairs to finish "The Alchemist". We had a lot of left overs and like I said I ate too much. I did this for a few days. Too many potato chips too. Pecan pie was great, I ate that for 5 days I think.
Black Friday we had a very busy day at work. I helped clean, but didn't buy anything. I'm still not buying anything even days after. I'm trying to last tuntil the end of this week. So far I'm doing great! I've had to go hungry a little because I couldn't buy food at school, but I've been alright!
Anyway, that has been the past two weeks. Things have been fun. I see the finish line in sight for school. I know I can make it! Oh yeah, and I also went to see the French tutor this week for an assignment. I had a partner and we had a short conversation with him. He signed an assignment paper that I am going to turn in soon.
Anyway, that is all for now. Hopefully I don't have to do this again.
Let's start with all the times I've been to the store in this first half of the month. I've been trying to try different types of bottled water. Nothing like Disani or that cheap stuff, but the good stuff like Essentia, Fiji and other cool water. I go to the store now every time I go home from school.
I should mention now I am no longer having a bad time at work. I am doing the sample shift no more right now. I just come in 3 times a week for 2 hours and clean. Trevor made a list for me. I am more than happy to do that list and other things. I feel a lot more relaxed. i feel like things are looking up!
I did major paper 4, which was an annotated bibliography in preparation for major paper five. We also did a research proposal. Was it hard doing those two things? Yes, yes it was. However, I am feeling optimistic and know I can make it thorough the rest of the semester! I can make it through anything. I've learned how to correctly format an annotated bibliography and I've started doing research for MP5 and my topic is depression and anxiety. It was agorophobia, but I'm going to shelf that for now. I am improving in English and that is exciting!
On the 6th I shared this story on facebook. This happened 7 years ago. (on the 6th) "Let me tell you about this because it's quite interesting. Dad and Laura
were on their way to get movie tickets. On their way there they were
hit by a car from the right. The miraculous thing about this story is
that I was going to go with them, but had a feeling I should stay home
for some reason. I lost my interest in going and I'm glad I listened to
that feeling that I didn't want to go. The part of the car that got hit
was on the side that I sit on. I would have felt the greater part of the
accident if I had gone since it took place where I would have been
sitting. Just shows that you shouldn't ignore your intuition. I'm pretty
sure it was God who put that idea into my head through the spirit that I
shouldn't go. I am very grateful for that even 7 years later.".
I tried tofu steak for the first and last time at the school cafeteria.
I went broke pretty quickly this month. I'm going to get it under control though. I just need to have bettter spending habits again.
I voted for Evan McMullin in the presidential election. Trump won, but I'm willing to give him a chance. I just won't say that to anyone outside of my house, or on this blog. Election night was a crazy night and we were all on the edge of our seats as things happened. People have been protesting and a lot of people are sad. I've heard of bad things happening all over, but I think it will calm down eventually. A lot of people are stressed. America will reap what we sow.
I went to a health fair and got a lot of treats and other stuff. I've gotten so many pens from fairs and events this year in school. I also have quite the collection of chapstick as well! Candy of course is always abundant.
I have been livestreaming coloring and other random stuff like Tetris lately. Here is one of the pictures I've finished coloring.
Yesterday I took these pictures of the moon! know the super moon is tonight, but I am honestly happy I didn't wait to take pictures.
I am feeling nervous about exam 4 tomorrow in French. i should have gone to the tutor more. Hopefully I am wrong and it won't be so bad. I'll give more info on that in the future.
If I forgot to mention anything you will see it eventually.
Here we go again! Happy Halloween! Today was pretty fun actually. We had exam toay in French and I've been going to the tutor lately, so I feel like this exam for Chapter 3 has been way easier. I am hoping I can keep the habit of seeing the French tutor up. I have been doing an hour every week. Sadly, that is all we are allowed to do, only an hour each a week with the tutor because he is the only French tutor.
I got to wear my rainbow sock monkey costume to school Today and that was fun. I didn't get to sample at work today, but honestly I don't care. I'm probably going to complain about my work experience soon. I am still having a really hard time with the sample shift. I feel like I've been shoved off onto the side. I feel like I am in the way. Hopefully I can find a way to turn things around, but I think I'm going to quit soon.
tonight my ward had a party at the bishop's second house. His second house is really nice. I went to the store on my way back from school and the mall. I got some drinks for the party we had. I got Squirt, A&W cream soda, Root Beer and Pomegranate 7UP. No one ever brings drinks to church parties, or they don't bring enough. I made sure to have fun with my selection. There were cookies and chips there as well. I loved the ranch dip we had for the chips. Part of me wishes I had brought more salty snacks, but I've probably spent enough. We played pool, watched stuff on the TV and just hung out with each other. A lot of people from the ward came, it was pretty fun. I got a little worn out and fell asleep at some point. I wasn't asleep for very long though.
I opted out of traditional candy this year and just got some chocolates from See's Candies today. I think I'm just going to do that every year, but who knows. I might change my mind later. Ohe thing I'm excited for though when it comes to candy is the caramel M&Ms. I saw those are going to be a thing soon! They are apparently joining the ranks of the permanent flavors.
Yesterday we had Stake Conference and the church was packed with people yet again. So much that people had to sit in the halls! I loved that, it shows we are serious about wanting to grow spiritually.
Anyway, here are some pictures of the fall leaves I took a few days ago. The fall colors have been fantastic this year!
This month for some reason I've been wanting to wear my glasses a lot more. I even wore them at work one of the times I went this month. the one time I wore my glasses however to work was the one time I got burned! It was pretty sad and I won't be trying that again. I think it's for the best if I just keep them off when I am there.
I still want to get new glasses and I've even picked them out! Judy at Voational Rehab is going to help me get some new ones soon hopefully! Here is a couple of pictures of me after work when i got a Tropical Blast Chillata from work.
So remember those colorful shoes I got a month ago? I decided I didn't want them. I have given them to Plato's Closet. It's a discount store you can give brand name and trending stuff to and they will give you money. You can buy other people's stuff discounted of course. I only got $7 for them, but honestly I don't care. They take 60% off of the price and give you a portion of the remaining price when you sell. Something like that. I might be a little off. Anyway, I've been wearing my Asics brand shoes that I originally got for running but haven't used much up until now. I am a lot more comfortable wearing those ones.
I was at a hobby shop on that day looking for Yu-Gi-Oh! cards. Plato's Closet is right next door, so after I found out where the cards are for some future date when I'm going to buy some I visited. That was when I realized I could sell my high top shoes and I went home and got them. I hope whoever bought them from the store likes them more than I did. Whoever got them was lucky because like I said before, they took 60% off of the original price.
Anyway, I've been wanting to try out more brands of artisan water. Some people think all water is the same and I know better. Some bottled water and even tap waater is more acidic and some is more alkaline. You want the alkaline stuff, it is better for you. Here is a cool video.
I recal buying Fiji water sometime this month along with some ice cream.
I seem to be going out for treats a lot when I have hard homework. We have started the beginnings of major paper 5 in English. I was going to do my research paper on agoraphobia, but that is hard to research right now because it si no longer considered to be part of panic disorder. The DSM-V has reclassified it as a stand alone disorder and phobia. I am doing my research paper on Depression and Anxiety instead. We have been doing out annotated bibliographies and research proposals. I hate English homework, but I am getting better at writing stuff like that for sure.
Time for an October recap. I am just too busy to want to write right now. I feel like my English class is sucking the writing motivation out of me. I will save the thoughts and details about school for the end of the year though. I expect I'll have a lot to say in a couple of months.
I've been looking over my blog notes and I noticed I wrote something about wanting to try a Zero candy bar shake. I really should do that sometime for sure. I think Zero andy bars are my favorite. It's a shame they don't get handed out at Halloween so far as I know. I've never seen one so far, but maybe if I am lucky I'll get... well lucky! haha.
I think the big event this month so far was getting my hair cut. This is my last haircut unless if I REALLY need one in the future. I am going to grow my hair out super super long this time.
Here are a couple of pictures I took at the beginning of the month.
I went out on the day I took these photos. Here is a necklace I got! This was conference weekend.
I also went out for ice cream on that day. I went in between the Saturday sessions of General Conference. Getting a treat on General Conference weekend is a bit of a tradition for me. I also made a trip to Sally's Beauty Supply on this day and looked at hair stuff. It's nice to plan ahead.
I will talk more about LDS General Conference some other time. I want to show you thehaircut I got a little over a week ago. I kind of miss being able to put my hair in a ponytail, but this cut was needed. Something tells me I'm going to have to get my hair modified though down the line.
That was a fun day, thought on my way home I ended up getting hot chocolate at the store because I froze myself at the bus stop! I really shouldn't wait for the bus outside.Oh yeah, I at at Panda Express on the 6th as well. I feel like this month so far I've been eating too much asian food.
I am still rooting for Evan McMullin to win Utah in the elections. I really think he can do it. I don't really like Trump or Hillary. I am glad I have someone I like. He probably won't become president, but he deserves my vote nonetheless. Have you seen the news lately about allies of Putin in Russia threatening or warning the USA that if they don't vote for Trump we will probably end up in a war with Russia? That is crazy and I won't be bullied into anything. I refuse to vote for someone out of fear. I don't think anything will really happen, but on this planet you never know. Things are so unpredictable.
Have you seen that they are toning down the appearances of Ronald McDonald because of all the crazy clown appearances all over the world? I feel so bad for Ronald!
If I forgot to mention anything from the past two weeks I guarantee you will see it later in the future.
I had stress management class today and we talked about experiences
where we got to show ourselves compassion. I haven’t written mine yet,
but I’m going to soon and when I do I’ll let you read it. We had snacks
in class. I know Ritz Handy snacks aren’t the most healthy things in the
world, but they were a fun change of pace. I originally brought some
chocolate granola and sweet potato crackers from home to snack on, but
I’m glad I ate a couple of those. The day started out pretty fun.
Nothing much happened before school, I just got ready for my shift that
was tonight.
I really need to see the French tutor soon because I am really
starting to struggle a lot in French. I’m sure and hour with him would
solve all of that. Sadly i forgot to ask about that today after class
and I headed straight for the mall without even thinking about it. I
don’t really know why, but for some reason even though I had snacks in
my backpack already I chose to go buy a Subway club. It was alright, but
I think when i cut fast food next week I’m going to not miss Subway so
much. I prefer Firehouse subs to Subway any day. My only issue is that
they are expensive so I don’t eat there often.
I cancelled the hair appointment I made yesterday at Aveda and
scheduled one at my regular hair salon with my regular stylist. My next
cut is just going to be preparation for me growing out my hair. Oh, and I
also got this cookie as well when I was at R.C Willey a bit earlier.
It was kind of cool because it was that periwinkle color but
underneath there was actually a layer of light purple icing as well. I
got that right before work.
I only had to sample for half of the time today. The other two and a
half hours I rolled and helped clean up. I truly felt like part of the
team. We ere busy preparing for LDS General Conference. I guess a lot of
people buy cinnamon rolls around this time. It was a fun evening and i
am glad things went well. I got a mixture of creme brulee ice cream and
butter pecan ice cream for my shift meal from Coldstone after work. When mom and dad picked me up we also went to Cafe Rio and i got a bean,
cheese, rice and chicken burrito. I didn’t really finish it, but I’m
going to tomorrow.
