The Frozen Journey

Today was crazy and so much happened. First off Linda, Justin, Jax and Violet packed and headed back home to California. I will miss having them here. We all woke up pretty early and were all doing our own thing. I decided I was going to go out today because it has been a while because of the end of school and the holidays.

I waited until around 11am when Linda and the rest left. It was sad watching them pack, walk around the house saying goodbye and seeing all 4 of them leave. I left right when they did. I made sure to wear my new boots because there was a lot of snow still on the ground. I don't like navigating through snow and ice, but I was eager to get out again and so I decided to ignore it. I was pretty much completely spontaneous today, I had no idea what I wanted to do when I started. I decided to just get on the bus and think about it when I got to the mall.

When I got to the mall I decided to go around the stores liking for knee high socks. I've taken quite a liking to them ever since I got the colorful ones from Claire's in the mall at Christmas. I actually found some really cool ones at Journey's shoe store that are really cool. They came in fluorescent colors. I'll make a note to get a picture next time I go there because I forgot this time. I decided to wait to buy them for a few weeks because they are $15 and I have other stuff I want to buy first. I also looked around Sports Authority for the socks as well, but didn't find anything to my liking. They had socks, just not knee high ones.

After looking around the mall for the socks and looking at some other stuff like pullover hoodies I decided I wanted to go look at Savers for some workout pants. For those that aren't familiar with it, it's basically a treasure hunting thrift store. Everything there was donated by someone else. I've been lucky a few times and found some great stuff!

I waited about 10 minutes before I headed to the bus and rode it to Savers. I knew I was in for a challenge in more than one way when I got off the bus. The sidewalks were overrun with snow and ice and getting off the bus was a little difficult for a few seconds. It wasn't easy walking from the bus to the crosswalk because the sidewalk was covered in ice. Let's just say that was pretty much the norm until I got to the parking lot. Anyway so I finally got into Savers and started looking around for workout pants.

One after one I flipped through all the items in the racks. I probably had like 15 pairs of pants in my cart. I also found a pair of pants that matched my peacock jacket that I left at home. I wasn't expecting it so it was funny. Besides the pants I looked at tank tops, shorts, pajamas and coats. Sadly today I wasn't lucky, except for a pair of red shorts I thought might work out. I headed towards the dressing rooms with my pants and the one pair of shorts I was interested in. By the time I was done I had just one item. A lot of the items were too short or to tight even if just slightly and I didn't want to waste any money. I found a pair of yoga pants that I loved though and so everything was perfect. I've been wanting to get a pair anyway.

After I payed for the pants I decided to head over to target because it was close. I wasn't sure if I was going to find any knee length socks, but I wanted to look around anyway. I got a little disoriented on the way there and had to backtrack a few times. One of these times I thought the pin on the iPhone maps app was on Target when it was still on Savers. I also got a little lost walking around construction. After carefully navigating the snowy sidewalks and finally letting my maps app actually guide me there I made it. I felt kind of exasperated by then.

I walked around target for about 15 minutes. I didn't find any socks, I'm not surprised it looked so picked over, I kind of expected that after New Years. I also looked at the bedding and yoga stuff. I didn't end up buying anything and decided to leave.

I suppose what I did next was stupid, well only because of the icy snowy sidewalks. I decided to take a different route from target than where I came from. I ended up walking along the back street behind the street that the mall, Savers, Maceys grocery store, and a lot of others are on. My local friends will know what I'm talking about. Taking this road turned out to be a bad idea. There were no lights for literally blocks so I couldn't cross the street and get back on the street I usually take. I was walking on I've and snow for probably 20 minutes. When I finally got close to a light I could cross at I was momentarily startled by a loose dog that was barking at all the cars as they drove by. It made me really nervous, but I gathered up the courage to get close to it and cross the street. I proceeded to get back on the main street and walked for another 15 minutes all the way to Barnes & Noble.

I really wanted to just sit down and have some hot chocolate and a sandwich. I ordered a turkey and cheese sandwich from the cafe, and also a peppermint hot chocolate. I grabbed a Japanese manga called "Hana Kimi" and just read for a while.

The rest of today I can just fast track through. I went to Bed Bath & Beyond and looked at sheets, blankets, pillows, and bedding sets. I was going to have someone pick me up there, but I really wanted to sit down and so u walked back to Barnes & Noble and read manga a little bit longer. My feet really hurt by then and when I finally got a ride home, when I got there I just watched anime and watched Zeldathon. I am now going to go to sleep because I am exhausted.
