Today I went up to SLC and visited the Rocky Mountain Eye Care Center. I had my annual eye checkup and things went pretty well! I'm still legally blind of course. They did that thing where they have you look through that funny contraption and ask 1 or 2 to see what your prescription for glasses is. They also did numbing drops and checked the pressure of my eyes, dilated my eyes and shined a bright light, and had me read letters. The way my vision works is that I have 2 different kinds of legal blindness. Or rather there are three types of legal blindness and I have a combination of 2. I have fluctuating vision which can be one type of legal blindness if it is bad enough, and I have blurry vision witch is another kind. The third kind is when you lose all but 20% of your peripheral vision. I don't have the last one thankfully. My vision fluctuates between 20/80 and 20/200 with glasses on. It does this because of my Nystagmus (involuntary eye movement) and without Nystagmus I probably wouldn't even be legally blind at all I'm pretty sure. I don't really mind being the way I am though.
After we left I put on both pairs of my sunglasses, I brought my own green ones and they gave me a plastic insert to put behind my glasses as well. It was so bright for a few hours, but I am used to this by now because I go through it every single year. For the rest of the day I just took naps and watched videos in the dark on my phone.
No matter how many times I go to the eye doctor I'll never get used to getting my eyes touched with the pressure checking instrument. I can never completely relax when they are doing that. I'm glad I only have to go once a year.
